Tail docking are among those special surgeries commonly performed on certain breeds to achieve that picture-perfect breed standard we have come to recognize. Breeds such as Doberman Pinschers, Boxers, Great Danes, Pit Bulls, American Staffordshire Terriers, and Schnauzers are among the most common breeds on which these special surgeries are performed.
Tail Amputation: The only acceptable reason to amputate a tail so late in life is for health reasons. Recovery is often very easy, veterinarians often provide pain management. When a dog has a wound on the tip of his tail it can be very hard to get healed or dog has a tumor on tail then amputation of the tail may be indicated.
